Debit Card Linking FAQ

Q: Which debit card should I link?

Link the debit card associated with the primary checking account you linked to Klover. Linking a debit card from a bank other than the one you originally linked to Klover will result in the debit card linking failure.

Q: Why do I need to link my debit card?

We need you to link your debit card so that you can get instant advances and so that Klover can easily pull funds from your bank account for advance repayment. Debit card linking usually takes just a few minutes, and you will notice a deposit of $0.01 - $0.09 and then a withdrawal of $0.01 - $0.09 on your bank statement from Klover for the debit card linking process.

Q: How long does debit card linking take? Why does the debit card verification process take so long?

Most debit cards will link in under 10 minutes, but the debit card verification process can take up to 3 business days to complete.

Here's what might be happening with your debit card if it's taking a long time to link:

  • We are confirming Klover is able to sustain a connection with your debit card issuer
  • We are confirming the debit card is linked to the primary bank account you have linked to Klover
  • We are confirming the debit card you linked is active and working properly - not expired, shut off, or locked
  • We are confirming the debit card is able to receive funds by depositing between $0.01 and $0.09, and confirming Klover is able to withdraw funds by withdrawing the funds we deposited.

Q: I can't link my debit card. What's going on?

Please don't relink your card before it finishes the verification process! You will receive a notification to your phone once your debit card links successfully, and you can see the status of your debit card link by checking the Profile (person icon) page in the app. Some of the most common reasons you might run into issues linking your debit card are:

  • The debit card is associated with a different checking account (maybe connected to a reserve or growth account). The debit card must be linked to the primary checking account on file.
  • You have a negative balance in your bank account. Some debit card providers will deny linkage due to this.
  • We are unable to deposit or withdraw funds from your debit card ($0.01 - $0.09)
  • You are adding a credit card, and not your debit card. We do not accept credit cards.
  • Your debit card is expiring within the next 45 days.
  • Your debit card is a temporary, or prepaid debit card, both of which are not accepted.

Q: Can the Klover Support Team manually enter my debit card information?

We are unable to manually enter debit card information for security reasons. We recommend that you enter all debit card information into our app.
